I'm thinking as I looked at the clock at 3am this morning that I've been here before...and pretty recently. Only this time it was a little girl that was having trouble sleeping instead of the boy. Keari made her way downstairs to our room in the wee hours of the morning saying she was scared. Usually she climbs into her big sisters bed when she gets scared but Kenzie had a friend over last night and they were sleeping in a different room. Keari climbed into bed with us, snuggled into my shoulder and feel fast asleep. Now normally I'd carry her back to her own bed at this point but I was so tired from being up the night before and I only had a couple of hours left before I had to get up for work that I decided to just let her sleep with us. Hubby of course barely knew she was there. After talking with her this afternoon, it turns out that she was scared because she saw lightening. I'm not sure she really did or if it was just a car driving down our street but either way she didn't like it. Let's hope for an uneventful night tonight as I'm really tired. Of course, I should have been in bed a while ago but I've been playing with different templates for the blog. I've had the same template since I started back in 2006..not that I've done a very good job of keeping my posts updated during that time...but I thought it was time to change things up a little. Hopefully it's in fairly decent shape because I'm too tired to do anymore with it right now...any changes will have to wait til tomorrow.
And speaking of tomorrow...Connor has soccer tryouts for school. He's really excited about trying out for the team. Let's hope that the rain they are calling for holds off so they can get the tryouts in.

All Nighter
Adam slept from 9pm to 5am last night. That's wonderful for him but terrible for me since I'm nursing him. I woke up about 1am in a severe amount of pain and finally had to get up at 1:30am to pump out some of the excess milk as I couldn't stand it anymore. Boy did I feel much better once I'd done that...could actually go back to sleep after that. The night before he slept 6 hrs...wonder if he's starting a new pattern. We'll see how he does tonight.

Too Good to be True
I knew it was too good to be true. Kearsyn was back to her normal nonsleeping pattern last night. At least I know she can sleep when she wants to. ;)
What beautiful weather we have been having here the past couple of days. You sure wouldn't know that it's the last week in November by being outside. Now if we could just get our yard to dry out after all that rain we had last week. It's still extremely soggy out there.
I did some Christmas shopping yesterday and actually went to a store to do it. That's a rarity for me. LOL I usually do most shopping online cause I hate having to hunt for things in the store and they rarely have want I want anyway. I was pleasantly surprised because I actually found most of what I wanted to get for my sister and her DH so they are pretty much done at this point. Yay! The kids presents have all been ordered and are starting to arrive. The only ones left to buy for now are our parents. I also still need to get a birthday present for my dad whose b'day is 12/20. We're going to try and get the family together on the 17th to celebrate. It's always hard with Dad's b'day being so close to Christmas especially now that my sister alternates the holidays with her inlaws.
Thusday is going to be a busy day. We're going to look at a private school that is having an open house in the morning. Not sure that we can actually avoid it, even though they do offer some financial aid to go there, but it can't hurt to check it out. In the afternoon, there is a Homeschoolers Open House at the college. Alex is going to be taking a Composition class there which will be good for him plus it will help lighted the load a little for Andy in the spring since he won't have to cover that subject. Also Thursday afternoon, Bekah has her speech evaluation appointment so we'll see how that goes. She's been in a terrible two's mood here lately. Hope she gets out of it soon cause she's driving me crazy. She thinks she can make up for it by flashing me her cute grin and giving me a kiss...which of course works. LOL
Haven't done any stitching lately although I really need to get a move on finishing up my Christmas ornament. I've had it stitched up for weeks...just can't figure out how to finish it. I wanted to do something different but I can't figure out what so I haven't done anything. :(

Recital

Andy has more details of the night on his site but here's a pic of the huge poinsetta tree they do there every year. It's gorgeous!
I've actually been able to get some sleep the past couple of nights. Kearsyn slept from 1 - 5:45 last night and from 11:30 - 5:15 the night before. Of course Bekah was up sick that night about 4 but thankfully Kenzie got Andy up to help with her so I got to stay asleep. I'm not sure what to do with myself after getting that much uninterrupted sleep. LOL I'm not counting on it lasting though. Kearsyn is going through a growth spurt so that's making her sleeping. I can barely get her to stay awake long enough to eat before she's back out out again. She's such a sweetie. She's starting to coo and will smile at you now. How fun!

Ahhh, Sleep...
Last night was much better. Kearsyn actually behaved herself and I was able to get some sleep in between feedings. I did get a little confused at one point, though. I generally turn the tv on when I get up to nurse just so there's some noise for me to focus on. I did that around 4 this morning and was flipping through the guide looking for something that might catch my interest. Problem was, half the channels were working off the new time and half were still working off the old time so the guide didn't necessarily match what was showing on the screen. I knew I was tired but I was beginning to think I couldn't read a simple online guide until it finally dawned on me what was going on. Glad I won't have that problem tonight. And I'm hoping that tonight will be another good night so wish me luck. =)

Sleep
I think I've forgotten what this word means as I haven't been experiencing it much lately so I had to look it up just to refresh my memory. Webster defines sleep as:
Kenzie and Connor had their first choir concert of the season and from the way Andy described it was a nightmare as far as getting everything set up for them. And the weather was less than ideal for an outdoor concert...overcast and chilly and as luck would have it, as soon as they were done singing and ready to leave, the clouds went away and the sun came out.
I've been trying to finish up reading the book I'm currently reading but it seems to be very slow going...not because the book is bad...just because there's usually a baby in my arms that then interrupts the turning of pages and such...especially when said baby needs to burp and won't. I've also been trying to work on the mini rr I have and that is also slow going since it seems that everytime I pull it out Kearsyn picks that moment to wake up. I have managed to get most of the outside border done but that's taken me about 3 days to do. Luckily, this piece isn't due out til the end of next month so I should be able to get it done by then although at the rate I'm going I think I'll have to become a member of the SSC. LOL
Whew, the wind today/tonight has just been incredible. I'm surprised the twins are actually sleeping right now because they hate the wind. Usually it whistles around their room and scares them so they are usually up and in either Kenzie or Alex/Connor's room. Unfortunately, tonight those three are sleeping over at a friends house so if the boys wake up, they won't be able to find comfort from their older siblings. Let's hope they stay asleep.
And it's now time for me to end this post as Kearsyn just decided to wake up....and so my night begins...Oh and just to add insult to injury, since we turn the clocks back tonight, that will just give me an extra hour to be up with the baby. ;)
1 : the natural periodic suspension of consciousness during which the powers of the body are restoredWhat exactly qualifies as a natural periodic suspension of consciousness?? And I sure haven't had my body's powers restored lately. Usually I can get a 1 1/2 - 2 hours sleep in between feedings but they've become less and less frequent over the past few nights with last night being the worst so far. Kearsyn started fussing around 11pmish and I didn't get to go back to bed until 5:15am. And that would have only lasted for 15 minutes because she was up fussing again at 5:30. Thankfully, Andy knew that I was at the end of my rope at that point...maybe it was the fact that when she started making noise I immediately hid under my pillow and covers but maybe he had some other clues to help him out. LOL...as he got up and took care of her so I was actually able to get a couple of hours sleep. Of course that ended when the rest of the kiddos got up...things were good until they finished breakfast at which point they all went to clean up rooms and it sounded like a herd of elephants walking over my head....our bedroom is underneath their rooms. Let me tell you, kids do not know how to walk quietly anywhere...they are constantly stomping around. I'm sure they aren't intending to do that but that's definitely the way it sounds...especially to a sleep deprived mom. Let's hope that tonight is a better night but I'm not counting on it. As a fall back measure, I've made some brownies so at least I can comfort myself throughout the night. ;)
