Tooth Time and Fun

Today was our 6 month checkup at the dentist.  It was complicated by the fact that our big van is having problems and we had to take it to the shop this morning.  This meant that the older boys were relegated to the bus so that we could have the 2 remaining vehicles to take us the the appt.  Our mini van  does not fit the 8 people that needed to make the trip this morning.

Everyone did great at the appt...in and out in a little over an hour.  Keari likes getting her teeth brushed but does not like it when the dentist tries to look at them.  This is the second time she's refused to let him take a peak.  Maybe the third time will be the charm.

We then headed home to finish up school.

By mid afternoon we were headed to Tuckahoe State Park.  It's a beautiful place.  Has an awesome picnic area underneath giant pine trees.  A lovely lake to go canoeing /kayaking on and fishing in.   Nice trails for hiking and bike riding.  And it's also home to the tire monster.  ;)

Tire monster with most of his face covered up

Other items of attraction are...

Adam enjoying the swings

The girls driving us around  ;)

Trying out the rope swings

Ty jumping of the pile.  A lovely view of the lake can be seen in the background.

Since the park is very close to my parents house, we made a stop there before heading home.  This is what greeted us...
What is it with the snakes lately??

Crownless

I had my dentist appt this after
.noon to fix my broken tooth...which didn't end up getting fixed. He took a look at my tooth...checked out the edges to make sure they were sealed, checked to make sure my filling still looked intact. That all being good, he said he would prefer to wait until after I have the baby before doing the crown. Even though the numbing agents haven't been shown to have any ill effects on an unborn baby, he'd prefer to error on the side of caution. He did say to let him know if I started having any pain with tooth, at which point he would go ahead and do the crown regardless of whether we'd had the baby or not, but he's not expecting to have any issues. Let's hope he's right. So my visit took all of about 10 minutes during which we talked and filed my broken tooth a little so that it wasn't quite so rough...it feels much better. And now I'm off the hook for a few hundred dollars until hopefully the end of November. ;-)

And an unexpected bonus was the extra of working at home...and with gas prices the way they are now, I sure won't complain about the.

Specialist Appt

Alex had his specialist appt yesterday to get his ankle looked at. Nothing diffinitively came out of because, of course, it didn't hurt yesterday. That's the problem with having to wait for an appt...by the time you get in, the pain has generally gone away. He say that there has to be something going since it's been such a pervasive problem for the past couple of years. He's speculating that it has something to do with his growth plate but he couldn't confirm that with the x-rays he did yesterday. We are scheduled to have a CT scan done on Monday so hopefully that will show something conclusive as to what is causing he periodic pain. He also gave Alex a brace to wear which Alex is loving! He says his ankle feels great and was even able to go for a 6 mile walk with his dad last night.

I get to go to the dentist in a couple of hrs to have my crown work started. I'm hoping that will alleviate the pain I've been having while eating on that side. That will make two crowns on that side in less than 2 yrs. Let's just hope the other side doesn't decide to start acting up. ;-)
