Crazy Weather

I thought March was supposed to me the month that started off rough and end easy. So far, April has been far more interesting. Snow on the first day in some areas of the state, and today started off just plain ugly...dark, dreary, rainy. Afternoon brought loud rumbles of thunder, pouring rain and hail. Wonder what will be in store for us tomorrow.

Alex still isn't feeling well and now Connor seems to rapidly sliding downhill which will be bad for tomorrow as he is supposed to ref 3 soccer games. Keari, on the other hand, seems to be back to her normal perky self.

On the menu today for lunch was dolphin cheese and mayonaise sandwiches. I'm not quite sure who introduced them to that combo but both Adam and Keari love them.  Keari was patient enough to wait for her sandwich to be cut into the cute dophin/heart shapes.  Adam, on the other hand, doesn't have a patient bone in his body and started eating the sandwich as soon as I pulled the bread out of the bag.  And yes, that would have meant that it was just plain bread at that point.  Told ya, not a patient bone...

Today we watched Tangled, which the girls have seen a number of times already. This was my first viewing and I loved it. Very cute movie! and oh so much better than that Avatar, The Last Airbender movie we watched last night.  The girls actually ended up watching it again right before bedtime with Andy and the sign that he liked it was that he stayed til the end of the movie...which did not happen with the one last night.

Guess I should think about doing some housework tomorrow but that's really no fun. Sure wish I could get the child workers in this house to do their chores...or rather do them correctly because to give them some credit, they do try to do them, they just tend to not do them very well. I keep reminding myself that one day soon they will all be out of the house and I will miss these days. Okay, maybe not so much...and not so soon since the youngest is only 2 1/2 and hasn't even gotten to the chore stage yet. ;)

Another one bites the dust

First it was Adam...then Keari...and now Alex. This bug is slowly but surely making it's way thru the family. Unfortunately it's not a quick bug so I think we are going to be feeling the effects of it for some time now.

Thank goodness it's Friday. I'm ready to not worry about work for a couple of days. Now if I could only learn to let it go during the week, I would be in much better shape.

Bekah had speech class today which she enjoys. Her teacher wants to switch her day for class (Friday's are not her normal day for class) but she would like them to be so she can join other kids. In her normal class, it's usually just Bekah and her teacher...which she enjoys but she also likes being with the other kids so we'll this a try for awhile.

We spent the evening as a family watching Avatar, The Last Airbender. Now I enjoy spending time with the family but I have to say that this evening was pretty painful. I found the movie quite boring and too long. Even the kids didn't enjoy it which is saying something because generally they can watch anything. We stuck it out and I totally hated the ending!

On the agenda for the weekend is karate...we'll see how many people Ty can beat up tomorrow. ;) The Saturday class is usually very small...usually Ty and another kid...so it's almost like a private lesson. Kenzie has softball practice in preparation of their scrimmage on Sunday. I hear the Connor has a ton of homework so we probably won't see much of him. He has to draw a poster for a Faces of Christ assignment, he has to "book" a flight to Holland or Norway or some such place.

I'm hoping the weather will start cooperating and actually act like spring. What's up with snow on the first day of April?? That's just a cruel April fools joke. Thankfully we didn't have snow here...just cold and rainy...but the northern part of the state had enough to delay schools this morning. I'm hearing that next week it'll be in the 70's and I'm soooo looking forward to it.

Eye Appts

Nothing exciting with the appts today. Tay needed new glasses, my change was minimal so could have gotten away without and update but I haven't gotten new glasses in probably 5 yrs so figured it was time. Ty had a slight change but since he absolutely refuses to wear his glasses, I wasn't about to get him a new pair.

On the way home, we stopped so I could get my hair cut. Then I worked more hours than I had planned but what else is new there.

I can tell that Keari still isn't feel well because she wasn't her normal cheerful self when I got home. Usually she is bouncing up and down when she sees me and yells at the top of her lungs "YOU'RE HOME"! I got nothing when I got home...no bouncing, no yelling. Nothing. Poor thing.

Tyler had his sparring karate class tonight. Afterwards I couldn't get him to come home. Some of the kids went to an instructors meeting, but everyone else could stay and practice if they wanted...so he wanted. Which was fine with me. He practiced his new green stripe techniques, practiced some of his rolls of which his worst one is the forward roll, go figure. He got one of the instructors to help with his self defense. Interesting to see Ty get out of a headlock, full nelson and bear hug from a guy that is much bigger than him. He did have some trouble with the full shoulder pin on the floor so he'll have to work on that one.

Still Sick

Keari is still feeling poorly today. I should have know just how poorly when she turned down the offer of a couple of M&M's. Or course, right after I offered them, she proceeded to get sick so guess she knew something that I didn't. ;)

Today was calm compared to yesterday. Only had to worry about getting Connor to piano practice tonight. I usually spend the hour reading but tried to finish getting some work organized. That seems to be a never ending cycle which is about to do it's monthly repeat come Monday. I think I got everything organized, notes written up, just need to get them typed up and sent out tomorrow.

Hubby calmed me as I was on my way home to tell me a story about our youngest. They were putting stuff away and Andy found a sticker and stuck it on Adam's forehead. Adam pulled it off and it stuck to one of hands and he wanted Andy to get it off. So Andy pretended to take it off Adams hand, then showed Adam that his (Andy's) hands were empty, at which point Adam realized it was still stuck to his hand. Adam then grabbed the sticker with his opposite hand, and you guessed it, it got stuck there. Andy repeated the process of pretending to take the sticker, etc. After Adam transferring the sticker back and forth between his hands a few times, he finally got tired of the "game" and stuck the sticker back on his forehead. He was quite satisfied that the sticker was no longer stuck to hands. Not sure he realized that he was right back to where he started. LOL

Ty, Tay and I have eye appts in the morning. That's always a fun time. ;) Ty, the crazy person that he is absolutely the eye puff pressure test. He's the only child I know that actually likes to have air blown into his eye. Like I said...crazy! :)

I told him Saturday after his belt exam, that I wanted to started practicing with him each night but so far we haven't been able to do it. Last night my shoulder hurt too much and tonight I got back too late from Connor's practice. Tomorrow is a new day, though.

Not much else happening. Think I'll sign off and read for a bit before heading to bed. At least I know I don't have to worry about getting up early for work tomorrow. Of course, one of the kids is always up early so there is rarely ever any sleeping in late in this house.

Bronchitis and Two Fevers...

After I've been buried alive for weeks on end due to work, I surface to find that my oldest daughter has bronchitis. The same day she gets seen by the dr for that, her younger sister and youngest brother both start running fevers that same night. Bekah was actually a good sick person...she basically just rolled over and went back to sleep after I checked her. Adam, on the other hand, was a different story. He started babbling about midnight and didn't stop until about 4am. At one point his temp was 102.5 so I think he was babbling out of delirium, poor boy. ;) Both are doing fine today although Adam's temp is starting to climb again so not sure what the night will bring. Not sure I can handle another sleepless night, especially with having to go to work in the morning.

Congested

I have been so congested these last few days. My head hurts, my eyes are scratchy and I just don't feel well in general. I think it's weather related...it's finally gotten cold here and every time there is a change in weather it totally screws up my head.

I went to an IEP meeting for Bekah's speak. It was with the school principle, speech teacher and head of the special ed department. They didn't discuss anything in the meeting that I didn't already know. Basically Bekah has articulation problems with certain letters and while she can say the letters by themselves, when they are in words, she substitutes other sounds for them. She's making improvement but it's slow going at the moment so her teacher is recommending that she continue with her twice a week independent sessions. We tried a couple of sessions with her in with a group of kids but it didn't go well. Her teacher thinks it's because the other kids were older than her and that she was intimidated. She's doing much better now that she's back to individual lessons.

They can make some stupid designs for humidifiers. I bought a new one last night because Adam is starting to sound congested. I set it up in our room and didn't think about it again until Andy came home from softball practice with Kenzie at which point they say that water has leaked out all over the floor. Now that's bad news since our room is carpeted and it was soaked. Talk about being pissed...and I was already feeling crappy so the last thing I wanted to do was to clean up a waterlogged carpet. An hour later, I finally get it dried out. I haven't a clue what happened to cause the humidifier to leak all over the place but this particular humidifier has slits all around the base with just a tiny reservoir to hold the water. If any water comes out of the reservoir it will immediately flow out the holes in the base. I didn't notice this design when I bought the humidifier otherwise I wouldn't have bought it. You can't even touch the thing without having water spill out. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Andy tried testing it to see if he could figure out why it leaked and the container that holds the water ended up breaking so needless to say it got returned this morning as a worthless piece of junk.

and Finally. Sickie #9

Andy put up a valiant fight but the bug finally got him. Hopefully it will be as short lived in him as it has been in most of the others.

Sickies #7 & 8

Today it's on to Tyler and Connor. Andy is the only one left that hasn't gotten it. Think it'll bypass him?

Sickies #3, 4 & 5

Today it got Taylor, Alex and me. I didn't think the mom's were supposed to get sick. =(

Our Second Sickie

Now Kearie has it. She started getting sick in the wee hours of the morning. She's so little, she doesn't have a clue what is going...just looks at me with big questioning eyes. Poor thing.

Our First Sickie

There's been a nasty stomach bug going around and it seems to have finally caught up with Bekah. She started getting sick when I got home from work last night and hasn't stopped since. Now she's so thirsty but everytime she drinks something, it comes right back up. Poor thing.

I wonder how long it'll take to go through the rest of the house. :(

Sick Day

One of these days I'll learn not to drive into work when I wait up feeling off because it makes for an extremely long drive home. I decided after being at work for 2 hrs that I really needed to go home cause I wasn't feeling well. Found out after getting home that Bekah had also been sick that morning so it looks like there is some bug going through the house. Let's hope it doesn't get everybody.

A Bug in the House

A stomach bug, that is. Yuk! So far it's hit 5 of the kids and me twice...started with me and came back to me last night. How'd I get so lucky??

Whew it's been raining cats and dogs here all day. So far we've gotten over 2.5 inches and our back yard looks like a wonderful place for ducks to hang out. Amazing how much water is laying out there. And I don't think the chickens are enjoying all this wet weather, either.

The kids all went to the eggstravaganza at our church this afternoon. It got postponed last weekend due to snow...still can't believe we actually had snow Easter weekend. It would have gotten postponed again this weekend due to the rain but they decided to hold it in the hall. The kids came home with bags of candy and all kinds of goodies that they'd won some of which included a really nice backpack that Connor won, a big chocolate cake that Tyler won and a plate full of cookies that Taylor won.

I stayed home with Kearsyn...was hoping to get a little nap in since I was up most of last night not feeling well but Keari had other plans. I ended up going through all the clothes in the twins rooms and cleaning out their drawers. Also went through a bunch of boxes of baby clothes that had been given to us. Got tons of boxes of too small clothes ready to go back in the attic. Now if I could only find our 3T girl clothes up there we'd be all set. That size seems to have completely vanished while the <12 month girl clothes seems to have multiplied while they were in the attic.

A Relaxing Weekend

or as relaxing as it can be with 6 kiddos running around but at least they were running around at home and not between different soccer fields. My inlaws came over Saturday morning and that's always good for getting the kids wound up. Other than doing a little laundry, I basically didn't do anything this weekend. Andy, Bekah and I did take a walk along the river on Sunday while the rest of the kids were with friends. It was a beautiful day for a walk but man did my legs and hip hurt by the time we got back. Was trying to see if I could entice the little to want to come out...I think she's been in there long enough at this point. ;-) I have another drs appt tomorrow morning so we'll see if anything is going on but I'm not counting on it. She is getting incredibly uncomfortable though...has her feet wedged up under my rib cage at this point. At least I'm hoping it's feet cause if it's anything other than that we're in trouble.

Was a long night last night...started with Taylor waking me up at 1am. Took him coming down to our bedroom twice for me to figure out what was wrong with him...needless to say I wasn't very coherent at that time of the morning. Turns out he had an upset stomach. Finally got him settled down about 2 hrs later and then Bekah decides to wake up screaming. She had one of her nightmares...poor thing. So after all that, I didn't end up getting to bed until after 4am. I was a tired little puppy today...especially when I was trying to get some work done. I was just about to log off from work in the early aftenoon to go take a nap when one of my coworkers IM'd me with a problem so I had to help her figure that out. So that meant no nap, but at least I got most of my work hours in today. Let's hope that the kiddos all sleep tonight otherwise I'm going to be even grumpier than I am right now.

I've been stitching quite a bit lately. Finished up a fish mini rr. I did the two little fish towards the top in the tank on the left and also the fish in the right hand tank. This is going to be such a cute rr when it's finished. I've also been working on the Halloween Mystery GameBoard Sampler. I completed all the boxes last night...now to wait for the next installment to come out. Not sure what I'm going to work on next. I don't feel like working on Mother's Bliss right now so I'll have to dig through my other wip's to see what catches my interest.

And just for the fun of it, here's a picture of Bekah being goofy. =)

Guardian Kitty

I took this picture of Bekah the other night. She was restless after going to bed so I went in to check on her and found the kitty keeping her company. Of course, I knew right then and there that she wasn't feeling well because the kitty can always be found curled up next to the person that's sick. Sure enough, that was confirmed about 1:30 that morning when Bekah was up again with an upset tummy. Thankfully Andy got up and took care of her. It must have just been one of those short lived bugs or possibly something she ate cause she was feeling better in the morning. When I checked on her the next night, the kitty was sleeping on her dresser so I guess Bekah was better but not quite well enough for the kitty to leave completely. LOL
