Colic

Ugh...I really hate that word but I'm pretty sure that's what Kearsyn has even though she doesn't technically meet the "3's" pattern yet....crying for more than 3 hours a day at least 3 days a week for at least 3 consecutive weeks. She's gradually been working into this over the last week. She starts around 9pm each night with excessive crying that lasts until at least midnight if not longer. She's crys throughout the day like all babies do but she can be consoled during that time. It's during the nighttime crying fits that she's unconsolable, poor thing...and she gets soooo mad. Scrunchies her little face up, swings her head back and forth, stiffens her body up. Let me tell you, she's got a nice set of lungs when she yelling in your ear. LOL Andy came up to me last night as he was heading off to bed and gave me a big hug and said he couldn't understand how I could handle that night after night...that being Kearsyn screaming her head off which she was doing at the particular moment. Funny thing is, I'm better able to handle it now than I was with Kenzie...she was really the first one that had any kind of colic symptoms. Maybe the older I get the better I'm able to understand what is going on and the more tolerant I've become. Don't get me wrong...there's still times at 3am where I wish she would just be quiet and go to sleep and sometimes I do have to put her down and walk out of the room for a minute but for the most part it doesn't get on my nerves anywhere near the way it did years ago...and when it does get on my nerves it's usually because I wasn't able to get enough sleep in the morning to compensate for the sleeplessness of the night before. So I guess I got several more weeks of sleepless nights to go through yet. As long as she's got them under control by the new year I'll be good. If she's still doing this when it's time for me to go back to work then we'll be in trouble.

I'm with Andy, I don't know how you can handle it night after night. Just the memory of the baby crying all night like that is making my stomach hurt in a familiar way.

Sorry Vicki. I hope she settles down for you.

(((hugs))) It is amazing what patience can be gained with age. I understand just what you mean. I am much more patient with little T than I was with big D.
