Oops!

Andy decided to do some work inside the chicken coop today and ended up locking himself inside the coop. ROFL The door latches by a slide bolt that slips into a hole in the floor. When he closed the door behind him he hadn't turned the bolt so that it wouldn't slip into the hole. There's no way to open the door from the inside once the bolt is in. Luckily he had his cell phone on him so he called our home phone and asked McKenzie to come out and let him out. Of course, he told her not to tell me what he'd done...which she didn't, he ended up telling. It's a good thing he had his cell phone on him otherwise he would have been keeping those chickens company for quite awhile before we would have gone looking for him. LOL

Ha, ha, reminds me of a story my mother loves to tell. Seems she once got "locked" in the chicken coop too. Don't know where my dad was, it wasn't his fault, but wherever he was, he wasn't within earshot and there were no cell phone in those days. It's bad enough being locked in a chicken coop but Mom had on open toe shoes and her toenails were painted red. Talk about hen-pecked! When my poor father finally realized herd dilema, she was furious. I'd like to think she's forgiven him, she'd say she has, but she still tells the story and to this day he still gets the blame. Lesson- always wear shoes in the chicken coop and carry a loud whistle (or a cell phone).

Too funny! Poor Andy.

Today E and I had a discussion about eggs. She said eggs come from a chicken's butt and no matter how hard a person tries, you can only make "potty things" come from your butt (she can't tell us what those "potty things" are because that would be rude). Now I'm wondering if she tried to lay an egg?
